Do you love chocolate and want to take your cake-making skills to the next level? Ever wondered how pastry chefs create beautifully layered cakes with impressive finishes?
In this 3.5-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to make and assemble a stunning chocolate roulade cake from scratch. We’ll start with a Japanese-style sponge cake made with a roux-based batter, then build layers of pipeable caramel and chocolate mousse before rolling and shaping the cake into its signature vertical form.
We’ll cover essential pastry techniques including making and emulsifying caramel, working with chocolate mousse, masking a cake, piping and decorating. You’ll also make a chocolate streusel and learn how to use caramel, streusel and other delicious elements to decorate your cake and complement its flavours.
Skills required: While this workshop is beginner-friendly, we encourage participants to have some basic knowledge of baking before taking this workshop.
Note: We will provide a cake box for you to safely transport your beautiful finished product after the workshop.
Note: Participants will be invited to taste their creations at the end of the workshop, but no full meal will be served during the workshop. Please plan to eat beforehand or bring a snack if needed.
