As we rocket from station to station, explore the art that adorns Toronto’s subway system. Hop on the TTC with us and discover the murals, mosaics, and designs hidden in plain sight. Our subway stations are not just critical infrastructure for public transportation. They are also dynamic sites for cultural and artistic expression. On this tour, we’ll explore the 70+ year history of public art in Toronto’s transit landscape, from station architecture and design, to forgotten tilework of the 1950s, to the contemporary murals of today. This emerging historian tour will be developed and led by Logan Warner, a heritage scholar and museum professional. Drawn to the lived histories of material culture, Logan has managed museum, archives, archaeology, and architecture collections for governmental agencies and heritage organizations like the Ontario Heritage Trust and Royal Ontario Museum. Logan received a Master of Arts in Anthropology from the University of Toronto and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology from Trent University.
