Spanish pianist Javier Perianes performs Jimmy López’s Ephemerae , a perfume-inspired piano concerto where musical ideas drift in and out like an elusive scent. Sibelius’s “The Swan of Tuonela” paints a hushed river journey through the underworld with a haunting English horn solo, and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 brings the program to a climax with its raw emotion.
