TAREK FUNK

Admission: pay what you can.

TAREK FUNK is a multi-instrumentalist, emcee, poet, and band leader, creating funky liberation sounds since 2007. His Syrian-Palestinian roots drive much of his perspective and approach to lyricism, throwing sonic uppercuts at the oligarchs upholding extractive capitalist neocolonialism. Tarek Funk has been an independent artist for roughly two decades, with multiple LPs/EPs under his belt, and a number of independent tours of Turtle Island along with his radical rap collective Rhymethink. His high energy live show is an amalgamation of genres including Arabic folk, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Funk, and Afrobeat. Tarek returns to Drom Taberna backed by a new line up of Arab Toronto musicians who will present two brand new sets of funky sounds.
