Do you dream of a tunic dress you can wear all year round? Would you like to learn how to make a garment?
In this 7-hour course (2 sessions of 3.5 hours each August 13 at 6pm and August 20 at 6pm), we’ll plunge into the world of fabric upcycling to make a beautiful tunic dress! You’ll be able to personalize your project by choosing your fabric from a varied selection of scraps. We’ll cover the basics of sewing and how to use a sewing machine and serger. We’ll also learn a whole range of garment design techniques!
Course 1: threading and setting up a machine; tracing a pattern and cutting fabric; assembling and sewing several layers together; practicing straight and curved seams.
Course 2: fitting sleeves; topstitching; finishing seams with the serger; trimming; and hemming.
Skills required: none, this workshop is open to anyone interested in reusing materials.
NB: Workshop time is indicative, and may take longer for some participants. We therefore recommend that you don’t schedule an appointment right afterwards!
