Oh, zippers that sewing essential! Would you like to get comfortable installing zippers in your projects without them becoming a headache?
In this 3-hour workshop, we’ll practice on sample pieces to learn the best methods for incorporating three types of zippers, whether for garment or accessory projects.
We’ll cover how to:
– Choose the right type of zipper based on the desired visual effect for your project, while considering the advantages and disadvantages of each.
– Install a topstitched zipper with lining, a zipper under a flap, and an invisible zipper.
– Change the sewing machine presser foot to the one specifically designed for zipper installation, whether the standard zipper foot or the invisible zipper foot.
– Thread a sewing machine, as a refresher.
Dang, just missed this one.
We'll see you there?

You’ll go home with your functional samples to guide you in your future projects, along with a range of zipper installations for each technique.
Required skills: None. This workshop is suitable for people who are new to sewing, as well as more experienced sewers who want to expand their knowledge. However, it is recommended that participants already know how to sew a straight line.
The workshop includes all materials, the sewing machine, fabrics and zippers, as well as plenty of valuable, topic-specific tips.
Notes:
– If you wish to bring your own sewing machine to this class, you must ensure beforehand that it is in working order, that you know how to thread it, and that you have both a zipper foot and an invisible zipper foot.
– The workshop focuses on installing zippers in a garment-construction context, not on repairs, and it will not be possible to work on an existing garment. However, the concepts learned will also help you with repair projects.
Published booking admission: CAD $99 plus taxes. Booking and availability apply to each dated offering; any multi-session course fee covers its booked course.
