Rhinocéros

In a quiet provincial town, an inexplicable event shatters everyday life: rhinoceroses charge through the streets, spreading shock and panic. Gradually, the townspeople themselves begin to transform into these powerful creatures, succumbing to a strange epidemic that seems impossible to resist. At the heart of the chaos, Bérenger—an ordinary man—watches in horror as those around him abandon their humanity.

A true masterpiece of the Theatre of the Absurd, Rhinoceros by Eugene Ionesco explores the rise of conformity and the gradual dehumanization of modern societies. Through a political fable that is as disturbing as it is visionary, the play directed by Karine Ricard ( Les Filles du roi , Le Malentendu ) highlights the fragility of the individual when faced with group pressure and the temptation of blind allegiance. Blending absurd humour with mounting dramatic tension, Ionesco delivers a powerful and enduring work that challenges us to consider our capacity to resist when everything around us begins to collapse.
