Have you ever wanted to create a journal that’s completely your own? Looking for a creative project that combines leathercraft, design and a little bit of painting?
In this 3-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll design and create your own refillable leather journal cover from scratch. Working with reclaimed chrome-tanned leather, you’ll learn how to select your leather, plan your design, cut and punch the material. Using acrylic paint, you will bring your cover to life with hand-painted details.
We’ll introduce you to essential leatherworking tools and techniques, including safe hand cutting, punching and sanding. You’ll also learn how to thread and secure the elastic cord, exploring different patterns and closures to create a unique multi-insert journal cover.
You’ll leave with your own hand-painted leather journal cover and notebooks that you can refill and personalize as you continue to use it.
Skills required: none! This workshop is beginner-friendly and open to anyone interested in exploring leathercraft and creative design.
The price includes all necessary materials, including 3 notebooks that can be switched in and out of your leather cover, tools and lots of fun!
Note: Leather selection will vary depending on the reclaimed materials available through our circular economy partnerships, so each participant may have a unique selection of leather to work with.
