Turn a quilt, blanket, or meaningful textile into a cozy jacket in this sewing workshop.
OCTOBER CYCLE – SEWING
QUILTED JACKET
WHEN | Wednesday, October 7, 21, and 28 from 7 PM to 9 PM
WHERE | The Jamii Hub (264 The Esplanade)
FACILITATOR | Svetlana Bassauer TICKETED | $60 for 3 sessions in October Important registration note:
You need to attend all sessions in the month to take part. These sewing workshops build week by week. One ticket purchased for the first session covers all Sewing sessions taking place that month.
Join us at The Jamii Hub for a four-part sewing workshop where participants will turn a quilt, blanket, or meaningful textile into a cozy jacket.
Participants can bring a personal blanket, quilt, or textile from home, especially if they want to use something with meaning. Thrifted quilts, quilted blankets, wool blankets, cotton sheets, or lightweight cotton fabrics can also work well. Please avoid materials that are too thick, as quilted fabrics already have several layers. Materials will be provided by Jamii for those who do not have their own textiles.
Svetlana brings more than 30 years of fashion experience and has worked with Jamii on sewing programs for both teens and adults. Her teaching style is clear, welcoming, and supportive, making this a good fit for people who want to build confidence using a sewing machine.
All materials are provided by Jamii.
No previous garment-making experience is required, but this series is best for participants who feel ready to follow a multi-step project with guided support.
Because this project develops step-by-step across the month, participants are expected to attend all workshop sessions in order to complete their garment.
A TEMPORARY CHANGE TO CYCLE THIS FALL
For the remainder of 2026, Cycle workshops will have a temporary participant fee so we can keep the program going through the end of the year.
If you are able, you can choose a Pay It Forward ticket and help make a workshop available to another neighbour. As Pay It Forward tickets are purchased, or registered participants release spots they can no longer use, Community Tickets may become available at no cost for anyone for whom the workshop fee is a barrier. No explanation is needed.
If you don’t see a Community Ticket available, please check back. New tickets may be released as we get closer to the workshop.
Cycle will return to free workshops in 2027.
Jamii’s Cycle Programs are sponsored by Canada Council for the Arts, Toronto Arts Council, TD Ready Commitment, Metcalf Foundation, Rama Gaming House, and Charitable Gaming.
