Do you have garments to mend and off-cuts to use? Join us at the Museum on November 8 for a free Mending Station workshop facilitated by interdisciplinary artist Raechel Wastesicoot!
Raechel Wastesicoot (Bonomo) is a mixed Kanyen’kehá:ka interdisciplinary beadwork artist based in Toronto. Following a teaching passed down to her: from the land, for the Land, and by the Land, her contemporary beadwork style is centred around upcycled, vintage, and harvested materials. Informed by Raechel’s artistic practice, participants will learn how to craft mixed media patches using beads, fabrics and other materials from the Museum’s Reuse Program. These patches can be used to cover a stain, mend a hole or as a unique touch to a garment.
Basic hand sewing skills are recommended, but not mandatory. All materials are provided. Participants are welcome to bring small scraps from their collection to use in this workshop.
