Ever wondered how a few pieces of solid wood can come together to make something that looks much more complicated? Want to learn some essential woodworking techniques while making something you’ll actually use?
In this 3-hour hands-on woodworking workshop, you’ll build your own set of solid wood coasters from carefully arranged strips of wood. You’ll learn how to glue up, flatten and precisely cut your pieces before assembling them into a unique coaster set with angled details.
We’ll cover essential woodworking techniques including planing wood flat, making repeat cuts on the table saw, cutting accurate angles, aligning pieces for a flush assembly, and securing wood with glue and nails. You’ll also learn how to safely use an orbital sander and set up and use a trim router to add a clean finished edge.
Throughout the workshop, you’ll work through the entire process from arranging and gluing your wood to cutting, assembling, routing and sanding your finished coasters. You’ll leave with a handmade set of solid wood coasters and a better understanding of the precision and planning that goes into small woodworking projects.
