Ever wanted to make your own clothes but wondered where to start? Curious how a few pieces of fabric can come together to make a reversible top that actually fits you?
In this 4-hour hands-on sewing workshop, you’ll work from a pre-existing pattern to create your own reversible top. You’ll learn how to take your measurements, compare them to the pattern, make simple fit adjustments, and understand the order of operations involved in sewing a garment from start to finish.
We’ll guide you through transferring and adjusting your pattern, cutting your fabric and setting up a sewing machine or serger. You’ll then assemble your top step by step, learning how to sew shoulder and sleeve seams, construct the neckline, finish the hems and close the garment so it can be worn inside out.
Along the way, you’ll learn how to work with seam allowances, choose the appropriate needle and stitch settings for your fabric, test your stitches and make simple finishing adjustments. Not everyone will finish their top during the workshop, but every step will be demonstrated and you’ll leave with the knowledge and skills to complete your project at home.
Skills required: This workshop is open to all skill levels, but basic sewing experience is highly encouraged. Familiarity with a sewing machine will help you get the most out of the workshop.
The price includes all necessary materials, sewing equipment and lots of fun!
