Ever wondered how those strong, beautiful stitches on handmade leather goods are made? Want to learn how to work with leather and create your own sturdy case from scratch?
In this 3-hour hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the fundamentals of working with vegetable-tanned leather while making your own saddle-stitched case. You’ll learn how to select your leather, cut and prepare your pieces, punch precise stitching holes and sew them together by hand using the traditional saddle stitch.
We’ll introduce you to the tools and techniques used in leathercraft, including safe hand cutting, punching, saddle stitching and edge finishing. You’ll work with a stitching pony to keep your leather securely in place while stitching, then finish the edges by sanding and burnishing before conditioning the leather.
You’ll leave with a handmade leather case measuring approximately 10″ × 2.5″ × 3.5″, along with a solid foundation in the techniques you need to continue exploring leathercraft on your own.
The price includes all necessary materials, leatherworking tools and lots of fun!
