NOTES ON THE PRODUCTION Every year we start with the question, “What would W. S. Gilbert have done if he were writing today?” With big business dominating the headlines and politics he might have turned to Shakespeare's tale of succession and folly for inspiration just as we did with Lear Incorporated.
We return to the Papermill Theatre with the show we premiered at the Papermill in 2018, Lear Incorporated. We wondered if we could turn Shakespeare's King Lear into a Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta. And we did! Corporate maneuvering replaces medieval battles and, in true G&S fashion, a paradoxical twist averts the tragedy. Come and enjoy familiar Gilbert and Sullivan tunes joined by equally famous melodies by Bizet, Offenbach, Strauss, Rossini and Mozart. We hope you will enjoy this musical tale of succession.
Tickets: Adult: $35; Student: $30; Groups of 10 or more: $25; Children (14 and under when accompanied by an adult): free.
Tickets for Lear Incorporated will go on sale in December!
