This workshop was designed for 2SLGBTQI+ community members and is generously sponsored by Community One Foundation.
In this workshop, participants will have the opportunity to centre slowness and intention while creating tufted art conceived of their own emotions and experiences. Participants will be led into a session that asks them to ground their creations in feelings, memories, and desires that they’d like to honour, let go of, or call into being.
Facilitated by terra Mitchell-Baisden, this workshop will teach participants the fundamentals of tufting, the joy of watching a 2-D design come to life in colour/texture/shape, and the groundedness that can come with such an intentional, slow craft.
By the end of the workshop participants will:
Learn the fundamentals of tufting
Create or begin their own tufted creation
Understand tufting as a tool for mindful grounding and expression
Have materials that they can take home to independently engage with their projects
Explore the craft with other textile-enthused community members
This is a beginner-friendly workshop with no previous experience required. All materials and step-by step guidance will be provided.
