Throughout the month of October, the works of artist Daniel Schlick are on display at Northern District library.
Daniel Schlick is a multidisciplinary artist and photographer based in Toronto, Canada. Currently studying at OCAD University, his practice draws inspiration from travel, philosophy, and everyday experiences. Through photography and other media, Schlick explores the relationship between art, life, perception, and observation, guided by the idea that art reflects life while existing for its own purpose.
"My photographic project follows confrontations with silence and searches for ruptures in the everyday world through which can be witnessed an unsettling sublimity. The monumentality of my works is equalled by the gravity of their presence, both tranquil and uncanny. I believe that photography's potency is its ability to investigate our intimacy with the world that surrounds us and to discover in it a very personal truth, the truth of what we desire from that very intimacy."
This exhibit is part of TPL's Art Exhibit Space program. Toronto Public Library provides space for local artists to exhibit their work at locations across the city. These exhibits aim to reflect the diverse cultural interests of the city and its neighborhoods.
