BELONGING OLDER ADULTS PROGRAMS
Sing-Along
WHEN | Every Thursday from 4:45 PM to 6:00 PM
WHERE | The Jamii Hub (264 The Esplanade)
FACILITATOR | Stephen Targett
Sing along in a relaxed, friendly space with Stephen Targett on the piano. This weekly gathering is made for older adults who want the simple joy of singing together. Each week we revisit well-loved classics, take song suggestions from the group, and enjoy singing in a no-pressure atmosphere where you can participate in the way that feels right for you.
Singing together can lift the mood, support breathing and memory, and create a real sense of connection. Come for the music, stay for the feeling of a room moving through familiar songs together.
Stephen Targett is a pianist and music educator with a professional degree in classical piano performance from McGill University. His work is largely collaborative, accompanying singers and instrumentalists across many genres. He also works as a studio pianist and musical director, and teaches piano, voice, and music theory. For the past couple of years, Stephen has enjoyed leading Jamii’s Belonging Singing Group at The Jamii Hub in Toronto’s Esplanade neighbourhood.
Support free community arts
Jamii keeps workshops free so everyone can take part, without financial barriers. If you’re able, you can support our $15 for 15 Years campaign and help us reach $15,000 by December 15 for Jamii’s future programs at The Jamii Hub. Your donation moves the goal forward and is eligible for a charitable tax receipt. Donate here now.
These workshops are open to people of all experience levels. No background in singing is required. Participants are encouraged to take part in a way that feels comfortable and meaningful to them.
Workshops are free for participants with registration. Registration is required, and space is limited.
Jamii's Belonging Older Adults workshops are sponsored by Government of Canada - New Horizons for Seniors Program, Canada Council for the Arts, Government of Ontario, and St Lawrence Neighbourhood Association.
